When Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg made an impromptu visit to Kenya on Thursday, he left many especially on social media talking for a long time.

The talk was not about the founder of the biggest social media platform in the world coming to Kenya, but rather the way he decided to treat his first visit to the third world country.

Even the mainstream media was caught unawares deciding to devote much of their bulletins' airtime  to interpreting Zuckerberg's 'humble visit' rather than why he had actually visited the country.

Being one of the top ten world billionaires, many would have expected Zuckerberg's visit to be full of fun-fare, media attention, perhaps an appearance at State House, press conferences and such hogwash that is typical of Kenyans.

However, it was the complete opposite. His presence in the country only went public when Zuckerberg himself posted on his Facebook account indicating he was actually in Kenya.

Many were, therefore, left asking, isn't the founder of the most popular social site globally not social himself? Why wouldn't he announce to the million of Kenyan Facebook users about his coming and perhaps meet some of them somewhere like Kasarani Stadium for say an entrepreneurial talk?

The answer is pretty clear and exact. First, he had a clear mission.

As you may have noted by now, Zuckerberg was not in Kenya to perform in a concert where popularity would have been key. He was strictly here for business and those who needed to know about his coming definitely had been informed in advance.

So, let us not make a fuss about it.

Secondly, Zuckerberg is not from a culture where money and wealth is glorified than God, the giver of the same. To paraphrase for you, the reason why corruption is so endemic in Kenya and Africa as whole is because we literally worship material things which determine our clout and recognition.

We, therefore, can do anything to gain these no matter the means. Zuckerberg coming from a different culture from ours, had to be a surprise to many of us especially after finding out that he literally had no security details attached to him.

Another thing could perhaps be something to do with where and how Facebook was founded. From a humble college dormitory in 2004, Zuckerberg founded what we have come to popularly know as Facebook and know him for.

Maybe to keep up with this culture, who knows perhaps this is how Zuckerberg wants it to always be.
