Garissa residents expect a true sense of development. We long for that day when idle and tarmacking youths will be employed. Many leaders have given us false promises only to hide behind parliamentary privileges after elections.

How long are we going to wait for the fruits of devolution? We dream of that day when our county government will provide better health services not only in urban but also rural areas.

It is not possible to grow an economy with weak citizens. A healthy nation is a wealthy nation. The next time we elect leaders, let us not be blinded by their sweet words.

Garissa residents have little to smile about when it comes to this sector. We cannot afford to bury our heads in the sand and assume that the sun has set. We dream of that day when poor students will be given priority to attend schools.

There are many bright students whose dreams have died simply because they cannot pay school fees. Where are the county and national governments? We dream of that day when special schools with state of art equipment will be established in various parts of the county.

This county will be a corner of paradise if the government ensures that each home has tap water 24/7. With the increased incidents of terrorism, life in Garissa has become a nightmare.

We dream of the day when security will be provided to each one of us. This dream will only come true if we make the right choice as far as leadership is concerned.
