Dance and songs rent the air as jubilant Kenyans welcomed 62-year-old south Indian Mata Amritanandayami better known as Amma or Mother.
They have been anxiously waiting for her visit for the last five years.
One after the other, they walked towards her to get a hug and beam as they walk away after her embrace.
Amma has hugged more than 34 million people across the world to spread selfless love and compassion towards all beings earning her the nickname '' ‘‘THE HUGGING SAINT''
Nairobi governor, Evans Kidero graced the occasion together with his Vihiga County counterpart, Moses Akaranga and Siaya County senator, James Orengo and the leaders were swift to shower Amma with praise.
Through her charitable work, Amma has embraced the world to help alleviate the burden of the world's poor through helping to meet each of their five basic needs of food, shelter, healthcare, education, and livelihood.
Kidero expressed his gratitude for her numerous charitable projects in the country as he announced new projects initiated by her organisation.
Amma teaches that everyone, rich or poor, has the power to make a difference in the life of another, and that no selfless gesture is insignificant. She inspires, uplifts and transforms through her physical embrace, her spiritual wisdom and through her global charities, known as Embracing the World.
This is her fourth visit to Kenya, her first visit was in 2003, just days after Mwai Kibaki was sworn in as Kenya's third president.
Her three-day visit will end today.
