On Tuesday, Kisii county Deputy governor Joash Maangi publicly declared his return to ODM after two years of campaigning for the Jubilee party in the region.
The move by Maangi was however, not welcomed by a majority of NASA supporters who urged that the opposition should distance itself from the politician given his lack of a proper political standing.
However, according to political analyst and parliamentary aspirant for Kitutu Chache South Anthony Kibagendi, the return of Maangi will prove very important to the ODM team and Kisii governor James Ongwae.
"Maangi, hails from the Abakioni which is biggest in Bomachoge meaning a big chunk of votes for the opposition," he said.
Kibagendi also said the return of Maangi will also revive the the campaign mood in Kisii county.
"As ODM party leader is heading to Kisii to reignite his campaign in the region, the return of Maangi will bring back the excitement in the presidential campaign," he added.
Reports also indicated that Maangi could be the designated running mate to governor Ongwae, and according to Kibagendi the coming in of Maangi will give the governor an easy time to pick a running mate after having a hard time in picking one over the past few months.
