President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday announced over 100 appointments to parastatals and various state agencies.
Among those appointed is Opposition leader Raila Odinga's former aide Caroli Omondi who was chosen to be a board member at the National Oil Corporation of Kenya.Former President Mwai Kibaki's daughter Judith Kibaki, was appointed to be a board member at the Kenya Investment Authority.The President also appointed two former governors, politicians who unsuccessfully vied in the 2017 election, and retired Military bosses to various top positions.Former Governors; Benjamin Cheboi (Baringo) and Doyo Godana (Isiolo) were appointed to the Agricultural Development Corporation and the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital respectively.Retired Chief of Defence Forces Julius Karangi was sent to the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) where he will serve as non-executive chairman.Mombasa based politician Mohamed Shahbal who unsuccessfully contested the Mombasa gubernatorial seat has been appointed the chairman of the Kenya Trade Network.Former teachers' union boss Madzo Nzili was also among the Presidential appointees. He was picked to head the National Irrigation Board as non-executive chairperson.Lilian Mahiri-Zaja, a former IEBC vice-chair has been appointed to the Energy Regulatory Commission as a board member.
