Mombasa County Governor Ali Hassan Joho, appeared on Churchill Show in November 2013, where he was engaged on a question and answer (Q&A) session with Churchill.

Is there a story unfolding in your community? Let Hivisasa know

Below is how their conversation went down;

Q. Churchill: How does it feel to be the first governor of Mombasa county and how is it? Is it very challenging?

A. Oh Yes! Certainly, it is... You realize we’re pioneer governors, there’s a lot of challenges but you know challenges are equal opportunities.

Q. Where did you school; Nursery school?

A. Nursery, I schooled at Tononoka, there’s a neighbouring school called Tom Mboya, when you cross the road to the other side. Then I went to a local school called Serani Secondary School, then afterward I went to college at High Grade, then I did some other Inservice programme in some other university and now I am here as the first governor of Mombasa county.

Q. So there are schoolmates who you schooled with at Tononoka, Serani and Tom Mboya, do you meet them? What do they tell you?

A. Yes, yes! We meet, and especially after our contacts went public, we receive “Please call me” messages probably 2 – 300 messages a day.

Q. Does everyone know your phone number?

A. A certain man took governor’s numbers and posted them on facebook pages of all governors. If there’s no governor who saw it, they should visit their social media accounts.

Q. And is the number active? I was you guys have up to 10 phone numbers.

A. I was told here at the backstage to leave the phone, but if I had it here with me, it’s active.

Q. So which game were you playing in school? Which activities were you participating? Drama? Music?

A. Churchill, you know we’re lovers of football back in our home areas.

Q. Which position were you playing?

A. No. 7 and in fact, we have a match on Sunday.

Q. Which English Premier League team do you support?

A. Where are Arsenal fans here!? (Crowd shouts in cheers).

Q. Now, you’re a young governor and it is good to have young guys in leadership. What do you do during your spare time?

A. Well from March 5th, 2017 (after elections) there has not been any spare time. We’ve been formulating policies on what we want to do. It has not been easy.

Q. And you have to balance everything.. your family.

A. Oh Yes! But the time you decide to run for an election, the family must really be prepared because time with them diminishes. Even if they go to a public place, I have a 17-year-old, they’re told: “Tell your father to give me a job”.

Q. So do you wake up and find your electorates before your home asking for jobs?

A. No. For me what I do is, (from the time I was a Member of Parliament – Mvita), I make sure I am in the office at a certain time to serve my people. That way they hardly come to my house.

Q. Honorable, have you ever thought of putting yourself in my shoes? You know being a comedian is not an easy job.

A. Let me tell you, I can crack a joke here that will leave everyone laughing.

Now let me tell you, there was a woman who owned a wardrobe but lived near a road. Each a certain bus passed, the door of the wardrobe opened. So she sought services of a carpenter, who repaired it but the door kept opening whenever the bus passed by.

So she called the same male carpenter and told her to enter the wardrobe an await the bus to pass and see where the trouble was coming from. Unfortunately, the bus delayed passing on that day. So the husband arrived home while the carpenter was still in the wardrobe.

He went directly to the wardrobe and found the carpenter hiding. He asked "You! what are you doing here?" the man answered; "Honestly, if I tell you I am waiting for a bus you won't believe me".
