The war between the former ruling party, KANU and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) seems to be deepening after KANU refused to meet the IEBC officials.

The war began when KANU through their party leader, Gideon Moi accused the IEBC of helping the Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP) rig the Kericho elections. KANU also claimed to have won the elections saying the party’s tallying officials revealed that the flag bearer, Paul Sang won the elections with 126,000 votes and not 56,000 as said by the IEBC.

Due to these claims, the IEBC said it did not receive any complaints of election malpractice as there was security at the polling stations. The commission further told KANU officials to channel their complaints to the commission and also have evidence to prove their allegations.

KANU secretary general, Nick Salat, however, said the party was not going to the IEBC and if the commission wanted to meet with the party’s officials then it should communicate to the party formally.

The IEBC said if the evidence is not provided then the party will be fined. These were dismissed by Salat as threats.
