They say only a man can be the breadwinner of the family but this article tells us the complete opposite.
This article focuses on one lady by the name, Roseline Mong'ina, who believes that it is not only men who can work and feed the family. She has her little shop in Kiberas' Soweto village where she works as a tailor.
She says her husband was not able to fully support their 3 children and her needs as well so she then decided to nurture her talent which was designing clothes and mending them as well.
The tailor says she had gone to tailoring school at a local polytechnic exactly two years ago. She says at that time, she had not even gotten married.
During her early marriage years, her husband, unfortunately, lost his job and so Mong'ina had to take up the title of 'the man of the house.'
She says that ever since they got children life has become quite expensive although she does not regret having had children.
Mong'ina pointed out that it was her husband who bought her a second-hand cloth repairing machine which she is now using to make her daily bread.
In a day she makes over sh300 from repairing clothes which she uses to buy milk and other food stuffs in the house in addition to what her husband provides.
Mong'ina acknowledges that her job might not be the best but it is what sustains her family and for that, she is grateful.
