[Photo: nation.co.ke]The content of the text message that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) ICT manager Chris Msando sent to his colleague at 3am on Friday before he was strangled to death, has been revealed. The SMS was the last recorded communication from Msando before all his four phones went off until his body was found stripped to the underwear together with that of 21-year-old Carol Ngumbu at Muguga Forest in Kikuyu on Saturday."He had sent the message to a colleague who had lost his father basically informing him that he won't make it to the funeral later that Saturday owing to some issues that had emerged and he had to attend to," IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba told Jeff Koinange Live program on Wednesday. This comes in even as Chief government pathologist Johansen Oduor revealed on Wednesday that Msando died from strangulation. The postmortem examination at Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi, which was conducted between 12pm and 4pm, was witnessed by a private pathologist and some of Mr Msando’s relatives.Msando was one of the few people who had knowledge of the whereabouts of the servers at IEBC that will play a key role in results transmission. His elder brother Peter Musando has said that the family has set August 19 as the 'tentative' burial date for Msando owing to August 8 polls.“We had considered laying him to rest before elections but we realised this is not possible, then we settled on August 12 but we realised it will be three days after the election. So if everything goes well we will lay him to rest on August 19,” he was quoted by the Nation on Wednesday.
