Timothy Majanja breath his last after leaving Canada 21 years ago and his wish had always been to own a home in North America.

Sources at the Grady Memorial Hospital where he died from told a local radio station that Majanja died after he had been rushed to hospital in critical condition. Attempts by doctors to save his life by putting him under life support system did not help.

Before he died, he narrated at his hospital bed how life had become difficult for him as a homeless man.

"When you do not have an ID you are nothing," he said after unsuccessfully asking the Kenyan Embassy in both Toronto Canada and the US to intervene and help him in his struggles.

He says he lost his passport and driving license after depositing them to a bank that was shut down more than 20 years ago. The development blocked his efforts to travel back to Kenya.

His relatives back in Lubao, Kakamega have appealed to the government and well-wishers to help them fly the body back home so that he can be given a decent burial.

Muhanji Shikoli the deceased's nephew told Radio Jambo on Wednesday that the family cannot bear the idea of their son being buried in a foreign land.

Catherine Ogembo, his niece who lives in New Hope City in Minnesota has appealed for help so that her uncle's body can be flown back to Kenya. Majanja stayed in Canada for 25 years and lived in the US for 21 years.
