Several trucks full of anti-riot police have camped outside Central Police Station in Nairobi ahead of the demonstrations by Cord leaders and supporters.
Most schools in Kibera remain closed due to the expected protests.
Nyamira Governor Cyprian Awiti is leading peaceful anti-IEBC demonstrations in Nyamira Town.
Cord leaders on Sunday defied threats by Nairobi County Police Commandant Japheth Koome that the protests were illegal.
Koome said no one will be allowed access to the city centre to demonstrate.
Siaya Senator James Orengo however said they were acting within the Constitution, and the Monday protests against IEBC will continue.
