Here is a timeline of events that have brought Kenya to where it is on the political sphere.Tuesday, 8 August: The country goes to the elections that were estimated to have cost the taxpayer Sh49.9billion.Friday, 11 August: The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) declares incumbents Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto as president-elect and deputy president-elect respectively. The National Super Alliance disputed the results.Wednesday, 16 August: NASA announces that it will move to the Supreme Court to seek redress over the 2017 presidential election result.Odinga said they took the decision they had said they wouldn't give the court a second chance.Friday, September 1: A six-judge bench, by majority decision, indicted the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), saying it conducted the elections contrary to the dictates of the Constitution and poll laws and nullified Uhuru's August 8 presidential victory. Orders a fresh election within 60 days.IEBC later announced that a new election would be held on October 17. The date for the repeat presidential election was later changed to 26 October 2017.Tuesday, 10 October: Raila Odinga announces his decision to withdraw from October 26 repeat election. Launches National Resistance Movement a few days later.Thursday, 26 October: Elections goes on as planned with four Nyanza counties boycotting.Monday, 30 October: IEBC announces Uhuru Kenyatta as the winner of October 26 elections with over 98%.Monday, 6 November: Two activists file a petition at the Supreme Court seeking to nullify Uhuru's second presidential victory.Monday, 20 November: Supreme Court upholds Uhuru's October 26 re-election victory after dismissing the two petitions as ones that lacked merit. Nasa rejects outcome saying it sympathize with the court because it reached the decision under 'duress'.Saturday, 25 November: The National Super Alliance (NASA) vows to use all legal means at its disposal to ensure Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka are installed as President and Deputy President respectively.
