Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has condemned the National Youth Service (NYS) scandal involving the loss of about Sh10 billion.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Wednesday, Kabogo said the money lost in the scandal was moved through banks and thus can be easily traced.
Kabogo further declared that looting of public resources will stop if he is appointed the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) chairman.
"The money involved in graft is moved through banks. Why can’t we trace the money and let people explain it? Make me EACC boss….That business of looting will stop before I even get there," said Kabogo.
The former Kiambu county boss said the people involved in the country's corruption scandals are known. He urged the government to put the suspects under public trial.
"The people involved in graft are known, and they do not work alone. I suggest we try them in the public now. Let us shout about it," he added.
Investigators who held a meeting with DCI George Kinoti on Tuesday revealed that 29 officials from NYS procurement, accounting, and finance offices have already been interrogated.
An unnamed beneficiary also confessed that he had received Sh60 million from the procurement department but could not remember what he supplied the institution with.
