A sixth sense helped one farmer, Peter Wekhomba change his mind from boarding the FlySax 5Y-CAC plane, which claimed lives of all people on board (8 passengers and 2 crews).
Wekhomba was among nine passengers scheduled to board the plane back to Nairobi from Kitale Airstrip on Tuesday.
They had waited for the plane for almost an hour. However, when the plane finally arrived at the Kitale Airstrip at 4pm, Wekhomba, who was already on the stairs boarding the plane, changed his mind.
“I was the first passenger. But something told me not to board. I was already on the staircase when I decided against flying,” said Wekhomba.
He sensed something wrong with the plane seeing shaken passengers alight from the plane. The plane, which came from Nairobi must have had a turbulent journey. He knew the return trip would also be turbulent.
“They were very shaken. I enquired upon which they told me of their turbulent journey. That when my fears were confirmed. It was foggy and windy. The rain was heavy,” said Wekhomba.
Therefore, he cancelled the trip and asked for his luggage from the flight attendants.
“I resisted their attempts to convince me to proceed with the journey. They gave up and asked a police officer to help me carry away my luggage,” he said.
