The former Foreign Affairs cabinet minister shortly after his troubles began mobilized his Ford Kenya as well as Amani National Congress loyalists in convening a series of meetings and rallies in the larger Western region blaming opposition chief Raila Odinga for his troubles.

However, there have been behind the scene activities that many Kenyans may not have interpreted.

That Raila's or NASA Senators' decision to oust Wetangula may be related to the 2022 politics where the former prime minister is crafting a line up that he will work with, with less opposition. Remember Wetangula has supported Raila's presidential bid twice - in 2013 and 2017.

This implies there are minimal chances that Wetangula will again support Raila in 2022 if he opted to vie for the country's top seat.

In the run-up to the 2017 polls, Wetangula had indicated he would contest for the presidency but was buttered by his Bungoma constituents to back Raila.

Now, as 2022 beckons, Raila is kin on identifying a man who will fight Wetangula off just in case he declines to support his fifth stub at the presidency.

Recently, Edwin Sifuna who comes from Bungoma and has been vocal accusing Wetangula of disrespect within the opposition circles was elected ODM Secretary General. This is the most powerful position in any organization.

Kenyans should watch Mr Sifuna. He is eloquent, energetic and wields every qualification that it takes to replace Wetangula as Raila's right-hand man in Bungoma.
