Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko made a huge blunder in nominating NRM leader Dr Miguna Miguna as his deputy, an ODM MP has now said.
Makadara MP George Aladwa said on Saturday that Sonko made the nomination without making wide consultations on the effects of the appointment.
He said the county chief should have consulted widely before making the move.
"He does not work alone, he should have consulted even President Uhuru Kenyatta or the Deputy President," the MP said in an interview with a local radio station.
He said the fact that Sonko made the appointment singly implies there is a section of leaders he wanted to upset owing to the troubles facing Miguna.
Sonko made the appointment two days ago and the move has elicited mixed reactions across the political divide.
Whereas the majority of leaders from the opposition and some in Jubilee approve the appointment, those close to State House have out-rightly rejected it saying they will ensure Miguna does not take up the position.
Sonko on Thursday defended Miguna's nomination as his deputy arguing that the outspoken lawyer has the capacity to help him fight cartels in Nairobi.
Miguna in a tweet on Thursday, however, dismissed the nomination, terming it as a malicious distraction.
