Otile Brown, a Mombasa-based artiste, has became even more popular after sharing the same stage with Tanzania’s finest, Diamond Platinumz.
Fondly referred to as Kenya’s John Legend, Otile has won the hearts of many music lovers, not only from Kenya but also the entire East Africa region.
Otile Brown's musical journey has not been a walk in the park. Born in a family of five siblings, Otile recalls selling traditional brew in a bid to take care of his needs following the death of his parents.
After completing high school, he secured a job at the Kenya Ports Authority. During the same time, he was making soap with a company named Diamond.
Otile began his music career at the Coast where he used to rap.
According to the artist, Otile is a nickname he was given by friends because of his brown skin, and it means Baba.
He decided to move to Nairobi later on but would move back to Mombasa whenever he became broke, because he hated living without money.
His musical breakthrough came after he met Doctor Eddie, a music producer.
He has released many songs such as Alivyonipenda, Déjà vu, Basi and Imaginary Love.
