COTU boss Francis Atwoli has expressed his fear that the nation is not being managed in the right way by the current government.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with NTV Tuesday,Atwoli took issue with the ongoing wrangle between the NGOs Coordination Board and several Non Governmental Organizations which have since been deregistered by the board saying that it is an act of oppression.
He said that the board is in itself in no position to ban any organization stressing that its Chair,Mr Fazul Mohammed is of questionable character as he has earlier been involved in the frustration of bodies founded by leaders from the opposition block.
''By entrusting people like Mr Fazul who are also of questionable character to regulate and harass independent organizations, the government has proven that it has lost it completely,'' said Atwoli.
Atwoli also said that the ban on the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) and African Center for Open Governance (AfriCog) at a time when the two had announced that they would contest the just concluded Presidential election result in court is an indirect way of silencing them.
''The President is turning our democratic government into a bandit government where law and order is not applicable,'' he said.
Mr Fazul's board has accused KHRC of among others operating illegal bank accounts and misappropriating funds while AfriCog is to be closed over allegations operating without certification under the NGOs Co-ordination act.
He has since ordered for their closure and the freezing of their bank accounts.
