Members of the National Assembly on Wednesday unanimously agreed to back up the pact between the opposition Leader Raila Odina and President Uhuru Kenyatta to work together.
The motion was fronted by the National Assembly's Leader of Minority John Mbadi.Th
Seven months down the line the general presidential elections held on August 17, 2017, the house has been divided with MPs from the either of the political camps (Jubilee or NASA) sharply expressing rift.
However, on Wednesday, the entire house was speaking in one voice. Having been moved by National Assembly Minority Leader John Mbadi, the motion was vehemently supported by all MPs who stood to spoke.
"Raila Odinga is our leader and he is the General of NASA. There is no doubt that he speaks for us. We have suffered economically over the past seven months due to political crisis witnessed since we held our presidential election last year. It is about time we forged forward as a united nation because we are all Kenyans," said Junet Muhamed who is Suna East MP.
However, the Jubilee side was greatly represented by different policymakers who for the first time commended the opposition leader for having made the best move.
"The pact of unity entered by His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta and Honorable Prime Minister Raila Odinga is the true sign of the dialogue we have all been waiting for. It is evident that now Kenya can progress economically and politically since, as Kenyans, we have decided to put our differences aside," said Kikuyu Town MP Kimani Ichungwa.
On Friday, March 9, 2018, president Uhuru Kenyatta and the opposition leader Raila Odinga met at Harambee House where the two decided to resolve the political differences between them and work together as leaders of the nation.
On the other hand, the other three NASA leaders have maintained that they too, need to meet president Kenyatta and have a dialogue just as did Raila.
