With the digital era, we are currently living in, many youths have well received the digital concept compared to the old.
This has made them very attached to digital devices. Mobile phones are one of the devices that youths use to quench their digital thirst. This has seen them carry these devices to school yet they know it is against the rules. It’s a shaming that some parents encourage their children to carry their phones to school.
This article points out some of the consequences the phone can have on a childs' education.
1. Lower their concentration. This is not questionable as it is a fact that too much use of technological devices lowers a child concentration when it comes to school work. Every child is taken to school because their parents want them to achieve something. The child can only be successful if he pays attention in class but how will he do that if he or she is always on the phone? The childs mind will always be fixed on the device and what new thing he or she can experiment.
2. Wastage of time. A child who is too keen on these devices has no time for anything else. They will be on the phone 24/7 never having time for education or anything constructive. The time that this child wastes on the phone can never be recovered and the child loses a lot of things that the teacher taught but he did not get because he was too busy on the phone.
Parents should be harsh when it comes to their children and the phone. They need to explain to their children that a phone should only be used during holidays. This is a bit harsh but can work very well because then during the school period, all the childs' concentration is on school work.
3. Leakage. any people do not know this but buying your child a phone when still in primary school or high school sort of encourages them to cheat in exams. the child will see no need to study for an exam when they can just sneak the phone into an examination room and copy whatever they need to.
These are just some of the negative impacts that can lead to the failure of your childs' school performance. Parents need to be harsh when it comes to this kind of decision making.
