Thousands of people relocating to Kisumu go in search of jobs.

The existence of learning institutions such as Maseno University has also made many Kenyans to go to this place annually.

Despite being one of the best towns to reside, incidents of crime in Kisumu town have been on the rise in the recent past.

Pickpockets snatch and run away with people’s belongings on the streets as well as crowds in broad daylight.

There have also been reported incidents where safes are stolen from hotel desks and rooms among other places. Motorists have complained about incidents of thieves snatching jewellery and other items from the windows of the vehicles in heavy traffic or when they stop because of traffic lights. Inattentive passengers are not safe in Kisumu.

This is because thieves are always waiting for “clients” at bus and train stops. It is also sad to note that there people impersonating police officers to steal from innocent citizens using fake identity cards.

The next time you find yourself in Kisumu, be careful when passing these areas especially during the late hours of the night or morning.
