The decision was made after the suspected receiver of the money, Josephine Kabura, a business woman, named former CS Anne Waiguru as a key player in the lost money scandal. EACC had cleared Waiguru of the claims but Kabura’s affidavit opened the Pandora ’s Box.

The affidavit was filed in court on Monday. The commission decided to grill Waiguru, Kabura and all other people mentioned in the affidavit.

The commissions head of corporate communications, Kairichi Mariba, said in a statement that the commission will probe the mentioned people and then send their recommendations to DPP Keriako Tobiko.

Waiguru has refuted claims as alleged by Josephine Kabura. The former CS said the move by Kabura was being organised by people in the top governmental positions who were trying to block her from active politics and who were against her ambitions of being the next Nairobi County governor.

She alleged that some people within the presidency were involved in the drafting of the Kabura affidavit. Kabura is the key suspect in the NYS scandal.
