Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has called upon the electorate to stay away from the polling stations and prepare their farms in readiness for planting as the nation seeks to elect its next President.

Speaking to farmers on Monday at Kwa Kathoka Agricultural Training Centre, Kibwana said that there is no need to take part in an exercise whose results are already known.

He reminded them that the opposition under the leadership of former prime minister, Raila Amolo Odinga has agreed to boycott he rerun when that time comes.

“I urge you to spend the day and your valuable time in your farms preparing for the rains, because there will be no election on October 26. We have made a decision as NASA not to participate in an election that will not be free and fair,” Kibwana said, as quoted by The Star.

He also said that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is only wasting time and money organizing an Exercise which will end up in futility.

The opposition has insisted that the election will not go on unless its demands are met. The leaders have vowed to mobilize their supporters to stay away from the polling stations.
