According to ACA, most of the unregulated online shops are to blame for the distribution of counterfeit household items in the market.

ACA chief officer for public communication Mr Tom Muteti told the public that after conducting investigations they have realised most of the most online shops supply counterfeit electronics, cosmetics, cigarettes and alcoholic drinks.

"Last week we started a fresh crackdown on online counterfeits and we are going to escalate the war," said Muteti.

"We have a forensic and IT experts and through them, we have managed to net online counterfeiters through complaints by their customers online," he added.

Muteti said they have so far managed to bust counterfeit goods worth Sh2.1 billion.
