Sudan, a 45-year-old male northern white rhino is sick. Sudan is among the three white rhinos in the world. He is the only male white rhino.
The rhino, named Sudan, is said to be suffering from a serious infection on his back right leg. The infection is said to be a secondary infection after he developed the same last year, and is now more serious.
Sudan lives in captivity at Ol-Pejeta Conservancy in Laikipia county.
The Veterinarians and the Conservationists are much worried about the sickness, said to be arising again because of Sudan's age.
"At the end of 2017, Sudan developed an uncomfortable age-related infection on his back right leg. The infection was immediately assessed by a team of vets from around the world, and responded well to treatment. Sudan resumed normal movement and foraging habits over January up to mid February, with his demeanour and generally activity improving significantly." read a press statement sent to the media on Thursday 02/03/2018.
