Is there a story unfolding in your community? Let Hivisasa know

It is rare and unusual for anyone, anywhere to be released by a court of law on a bail only to be re-arrested minutes later. This, however, happened to Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino on Wednesday who was re-arrested immediately upon release after spending two rough nights in the coolers. As you ponder about this unprecedented occurrence, it is good to remember that a section of Gikuyu elders drawn from Kiambu County on Tuesday pronounced a curse on Babu Owino for his 'disrespect to the elders and women'.While Babu's re-arrest may have nothing to do with the curse, the possibility of the curse having started to take effect, may not be fully counted out.The National Chairman of Kikuyu Elders Welfare Association (KEWA) Mzee Njoroge Karatu, after placing the curse on the MP, said that everything was now in the hands of the gods whom he said were at will to deal with Babu Owino in whatever manner they deemed fit."The youth must learn to restrain themselves against acts that could invite curses upon themselves and their families. Disrespecting elders only attracts the wrath of the gods. I appeal to our elderly brothers from the Luo Community to advise their son Babu Owino and guide him on respecting his seniors,” said Mzee Karatu. So, which way for Babu Owino?Well, Mzee Karatu says that a curse is not an end in itself because in away it can be a precursor to blessings if the victim of the curse became remorseful and apologized for his mistakes."A curse can bring about the restoration and re-establishment of blessings. We, therefore, wish Babu Owino will reconsider his behaviour and apologize to the mother of the nation and the President," the elder said.
