Cyber bullying only seems to get worse by the minute. Despite the many campaigns against it, it still soldiers on. Though this heinous act is carried out online, the effects on affected individuals is as real as hot water on your skin. Online bullying is fueled by the idea that the doers cannot be 'seen'. They hide behind their gadgets and feel unreachable as they use words, images and videos to humiliate others. Reasons why people feel the need to take down others differs. Some are driven by jealousy, hatred, ego or a need to put someone else down so they can feel better about themselves. By being able to torture someone else, that feeling of power makes then feel like they have a level of dominance. Someone who is constantly attacked online can start falling into depression. This is because of the constant lies, hurtful words and attacks aimed at them. Some of these attacks are so personal that no hard shell can protect you. It just gets to you. They can attack your body, your children, your family and everything that you hold dear. The closer it is to you, the more hurtful it can get. Online bullying doesn't only happen to celebrities. Many people have found themselves in hot soup by sharing a post, picture or video. All it needs is a few mean people to start off with the attacks and soon others join in. Some people have even committed suicide after being unable to cope with online bullies. The emotional and psychological burden of being misjudged, humiliated and demeaned can be overwhelming.
