Atheists in Kenya (AIK) have urged Nairobi voters to blacklist Governor Evans Kidero.
According to the Atheist, Kidero should be blacklisted after he allegedly slapped Nairobi Women Representative Rachel Shebesh.
They urgue that he disrespected the women.
Shebesh has led protesting city-county employees who were demonstrating outside Kidero’s demanding salary increase when the unfortunate incident happened.
The Association through its chairman Harrison Mumia the women should reject Kidero as a demonstration that violence against women should not be tolerated.
“He is beholden to patriarchy and his character is deeply rooted in traditional African culture where women had no say. His actions don’t portray a leader who can champion gender equality which includes efforts to end all forms of violence, forms of sexual violence and harmful practices,” the statement reads.
He adds, “He is a failed leader in this regard.”
