With the electioneering period drawing closer, communities have lately been supplying their political ideologies to political hopefuls with the sole objective of receiving goodies upon their ascension to the various elective offices come 2017.
However, for the Ajuran community in Garissa, their politics has evolved to appear as a doublespeak by promising almost any aspirant of their support.
In the past few days, the community has pledged to support two candidates for the gubernatorial bid. What now lingers in the mind is whether the community is being genuine in its politics or just playing tricks.
Over the Weekend, Governor Jama engaged the community elders who resoundingly affirmed that they would support him. However, speaking to HiviSasa, the chairman of the community said the members did not endorse the governor, and that the event was not political. He added that they have not thrown their weight behind any candidate.
They also went to the extent of praising the incumbent for a job well done during his first term that is inching closer to expiry. As a matter of appreciation, Jama assured them of his continued support and employment slots in his next government.
Still on the Ajuran community, a section of its elders are also on record for rallying behind Ali Korane, who is seeking to battle out Governor Jama.
It is time that the various clans leave the electorate to decide on its own without exerting their baseless politics of doublespeak.
