Nobody doubts the resilience of Migori people in pursuit of what they believe in.
They have demonstrated time and again, albeit with exagerated drama, that once they make up their minds, they stick to their resolve with militarily precision.
Take the case of the just concluded polls. The people of Migori warned the son of Chebukati never to set foot in Migori. Poor Chebukati forced his way by transporting ballots in armored personnel carriers to the tallying point!
That is all he could do; the people of Migori,who form the bedrock of Raila's newly formed National Resistance Movement(NRM), used all guerilla tactics to ensure that no ballot paper reached any polling station in Migori! What an achievement for a newly formed resistance movement! Che Guevera would be proud of them.That is why I am afraid that if we don't plead with the people of Migori to allow the KCPE and KCSE to kick off smoothly, we may be in trouble as a Nation as our children may not do the examination if baba so declares.I plead with CS Matiangi to form a negotiating team to address this matter urgently. It is a grave matter of National interest. Baba is on record saying the National examination is not more important than the election. We need to talk to him for a smooth process. I am afraid that one of the methods that can be employed by the newly found rebel movement (NRM) in its 'liberation' bid is to sabotage National examination in its strongholds. In the meantime, let us all cross our fingers in prayer that such an idea does not ferment in baba's fertile mind.
