[Photo|Wishfm Nairobi]A 32-year-old man in Baringo was paraded in public before a bench of traditional judges made up of village elders for having an affair with a 56-year-old married woman.Prior to the judgement and punishment, the offender is supposed to produce a he-goat which is slaughtered and offered as a meal to the judges present.The man is accused of luring the woman with a local brew before seducing her when her husband was away.As a way of issuing a judgement or ruling, Citizen Digital established that the eldest judge in the bench then offers cleansing in the form of prayer to show forgiveness and a renewed life.However before the man can be forgiven, he is supposed to be punished first.He is required to provide six cows, six goats and be whipped by getting six strokes of cane.The randy man before the court gets his charges read out aloud. He is then presented with the judgement alongside the woman.The judgement bench is comprised of both old and young men including middle aged men who provide the strokes.The cows and goats provided by the offender are presented to the aggrieved man. The offender and victim then shake hands before going their separate ways, leaving the judges enjoying a local brew and making merry for a well done job.Ripkor MCA Daniel Tuit, said immorality in the community is prevented through such punishments since many are afraid of the public embarrassment and hefty fines.
