Last Sunday, Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore tied the knot to Miss Wambui Kamiru (now Mrs Collymore).
I must says the union was a blessed one from the get go and we the Vegans felt it too.
How? You ask. The heavens opened up and it rained for the first time in a long while. A clear sign that the heavens approved of it.
Over the past few months, we have experienced increasingly high temperatures.
So hot was it that a majority of us opted to stay indoors unless it was unavoidable. Even the animals felt the heat as the cattle could be seen cuddled up in the tiniest of shades.
Today is a different story. Vegans slept and woke up to the sight of heavy, grey-dark nimbus clouds that were pregnant with rain.
A majority of us didn’t want to leave the comfort of our warm beds, and we reluctantly got up to resume our day’s business.
Most, if not all, are happy with this new weather. Farmers are particularly happy since they now have hopes of a harvest should the rains continue.
A majority had prepared their land and even planted in anticipation of the usual short March rains which never came.
One thing, however, haunts the farmers in their sleep. Are these rains here to stay or are they just a passing cloud?
The weatherman had earlier on predicted that the heavy El Nino rains would pay us a courtesy call but that didn’t come to pass.
Nakuru’s weather has become increasingly difficult to predict, and only time will tell whether the rains are here to stay or just a passing cloud.
