Photo: Daily Nation/nation.co.keThe quest for Jubilee Party to clinch Nairobi County's top seat is getting murkier by the day.A lot of twists and turns have been witnessed in past recent days.Jubilee had more than three leaders seeking to unseat Governor Evans Kidero, namely Senator Mike Mbivi Sonko, Former MP Peter Kenneth, nominated MP Johnson Sakaja, Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru, and Bishop Margaret Wanjiru. However, two of the five have bolted out for lesser seat, leaving Kenneth, Sonko, and Wanjiru as the candidates to battle out for the ticket. On Thursday, the youthful Sakaja who had initially stated publicly his desire to contest for Nairobi's top seat backed out and shifted his focus to the Senate seat. When asked to explain the reason behind the move, Sakaja pointed out that unity in Jubilee come first for him."I have sacrificed so as to unite Jubilee in Nairobi. Moving as a divided team would be a sure route to a loss," he was quoted by the Star. However, a closer ally to Sakaja has revealed the real reason why the MP took a shot at the Senate seat."Let nobody cheat you that you will get a cabinet position, NASA is likely to win so better go for nomination first," said Sakaja's ally."Besides, Uhuru has already promised many politicians from Western Kenya cabinet slots, including Eugene Wamalwa and Ababu Namwamba," he added.Sakaja was nominated by Jubilee to Parliament after working tirelessly as chairman of the defunct The National Alliance (TNA) which propelled President Uhuru Kenyatta to power in 2013.
