Former Harambee Stars captain Dennis Oliech is set for a return to active soccer, after impressing during his trials with South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Free State Stars.
Oliech, who has been out of active football since leaving Dubai-based Al-Nasr, where he spent half a season after leaving Ajaccio of France.
If he signs the deal, the ‘menace’ as he is commonly referred to by his fans might be drafted to the national team, considering his vast experience over the years.
He last played for Kenya in 2015, during a match against Zambia at Nyayo National Stadium.
According to the club’s coach Luc Eymael, he will be glad to have Oliech in his team if he passes the trials.
“For me, he’s not yet fit but he has a lot of quality with skills and everything. He’s scoring in training and for me, I am very positive that things will be okay but now it depends on the bosses. The transfer window is not yet open now but we will discuss and see what comes off it,” Eymael, formerly with Kenyan giants AFC Leopards said.
“He has to meet the bosses either Tuesday or Wednesday. I have had my say and they will talk to make an agreement,” the Belgian coach said.
The club is based in Bethlehem and hosts their matches at the 20,000-capacity Goble Park Stadium.
