Sabina Wanjiru Chege is the elected women Representative for Murang’a County. Just like anyone else she has gone through various levels to be one of the famous politicians in the country.
At the moment, the legislator is at the center of a fiasco involving a conman; Benson Wazir Chacha who is alleged to have conned close to 13 female MPs hundreds of thousands of monies.
The 39-year-old politician attended Mugoiri Girls High School between 1997 and 2000. Before she joined higher education, she auditioned at the Kenya National Theater where she got selected to feature in a popular TV series in the 90s, Tausi.
While acting for Tausi as Rehema, she got much national fame. She joined The University of Nairobi to take a Bachelors degree in Education, while at the University she was employed as a Presenter for Kameme FM (2002-2005) where her grass root political skills were sharpened.
In 2007, she joined KBC as controller of the commercial radio services until she resigned in 2012 to vie for Muranga Women representative seat in the 2013 general elections.
Later on, she was elected as the Chairperson of Education Committee in the National Assembly, earning her national stature.
Chege is currently married to Gathitu Maina, a man she was accused of ‘snatching’ in 2017 by the man’s first wife Wanjiru, a claim that the MP refuted and paraded Maina as her husband when she picked her victory certificate from Murang’a Returning Officer.
