Kisumu residents are known for their love for fish especially the finger-size type popularly known as Omena.
But how many people actually know how to prepare the delicacy?
Below is a simple process that will help you prepare the delicacy in a short time.
For the process to begin, you need to have two cups of Omena, one onion, three tomatoes, one cup of water and turmeric.
You will also need a small piece of Magadi salt, garlic, salt and milk.
Once you have the ingredients, put the Omena on a dish and select the Omena to remove loose scales and chuff.
Put the Omena in a bowl and pour hot boiling water over it.
Cover it with a dish cloth and let it sit until the water has cooled, strain the Omena and put it in a source pan.
Place it on heat point and let cook until the water has dried out.
Pour into a pan, cook for 2-3 minutes then add onions and garlic and let cook for five minutes.
Add the tomatoes, salt and pepper and cook for about 1-2 minutes then finally add the sour milk.
Reduce heat to low and allow to cook until the Omena is cooked.
Serve it while hot. You can serve with green vegetables and hot ugali.
