Kisii County government has been urged to start providing free health care for street children in public hospitals.
This is due to the fact that some children are pushed into the streets of Kisii town following the death of parents due to HIV/AIDS or after running away from violence at home.
Others live on the street simply because their families are poor to look after them.
Studies by a local group has revealed that the street children who are within Kisii town especially girls are used as sex objects by older boys as well as the watchmen that are guarding shops at night.
Last week, some street children were taken to Gusii stadium for interviews o revealed on their lives and most of them revealed that some girls are having sexual relationships with several boys.
And also that late in the night, the Kisii commercial sex workers ask some young boys to escort them to their homes in exchange for sexual favors and some food.
In the study, it was revealed that a number of street children picking sexually transmitted infections is high because a majority of the street children indulge in sexual activities without using any protection.
