IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati has said that his commission did everything in its control to ensure they followed the law in the August general elections.

Speaking after the nullification of the presidential election and order for a fresh poll by the Supreme Court, Chebukati absolved his commission of any pre-planned ills, saying they conducted the voting and counting in accordance to the law and with respect to the sovereignty of the people of Kenya.

He ignored NASA's threats of disbanding IEBC and said they are sure to oversee the second poll in accordance to the law.

"We note that the focus of the decision of the court is in the transmission of presidential results. This means there were no aspersions starting from the voting and counting of votes and that the sovereign will of the Kenyan people was fully respected,” he said.

Earlier, Chebukati said that the commission has invited the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to look into the matter and arrest any officer who might have helped rig the vote in favour pr President Uhuru Kenyatta.
