Kenya's Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary, Amina Mohammed, lost her bid to be the African Union Commission chair after pledges by some countries, including Uganda, failed to materialise. Amina lost to Mahamat after heads of states voted in the seventh round. Other countries that are said to have abandoned the Kenyan candidate at the last minute were Rwanda and Burundi.
