IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati has called upon the state to assure IEBC staff of their security ahead of the August 8 elections.

Speaking to journalists over the killing of ICT director Chris Msando, Chebukati said the government must ensure the staff are safe by first unravelling the killer.

"The government must tell Kenyans who killed Msando and why. There is no doubt Msando was tortured and then murdered...who killed him and why did they kill him? That question must be answered," he said.

"The state must assure us that all IEBC employees are safe," he said. "We are working with police to ensure the killers are brought to book."

Chebukati was addressing journalists at the City Mortuary.
