[Photo/the-star.co.ke]University lecturers are scheduled to engage in talks with their employers tomorrow in a bid to unlock the impasse that has grounded learning in public universities. They failed to reach a deal yesterday after the Universities Academic Staff Union dug its heels in by insisting that certain issues had to be addressed first before any meaningful resolution was achieved.''We are yet to agree. Three issues that we consider irreducible minimums have not been addressed. The strike is still on.'' UASU secretary-general Constantine Wesonga said.He insisted that only a verifiable commitment from the government would help end the ongoing strike. Many students had pinned their hopes for resuming learning on Thursday's talks but those hopes have been dashed. The lecturers are demanding 4 billion shillings in pension.
