You often see him on TV do what he does best. But do you know much about the life history of one Willis Raburu? Worry not, because I'm gonna take you through the life of this ‘big wig' in the media industry so that you know him even better.
Raburu was born on 1st April 1987 in Kisumu county. He did his primary education at Agha Khan primary school in Kisumu and later on proceeded to Chemelil Academy high school. After completing his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), he was luckily admitted to Moi University main campus that is located in Kesses where he did an undergraduate degree in information science from the year 2006-2010.
After leaving Moi University, he worked as a broadcast journalist, news anchor and news reporter at Royal Media services. October 2013 - November 2013, was one of his best times as he worked as a CNN fellow, what seemed to give him more experience in this competitive profession. He also worked as an exchange journalist at PBS NewsHour, that is April 2014-May 2014.
He is a media personality who hosts 10 over 10 on Citizen TV on Friday. He used to bring a weekly segment on Citizen TV dubbed ‘Truthmeter’ which was part of Citizen Tv’s weekly prime-time line up of programming.
Raburu has bagged quite a number of awards including; Maji award for the three-part series ‘Deadly Water', Children's Rights award for a series journey of the resilience of children from Rwanda and the Road safety award for the series killer drivers.
In 2014, he proposed to his girlfriend Sally Mbilu and offered her a Sh100,000 ring. They later broke up after two years. When Heads Up reached them to confirm the news, Sally did not pick the calls, while Willis refused to comment.
