The study was aimed at establishing what the Kenyan people think about the KFCB’s mandate and content classification functions.

It was found that local programs are the most watched by Kenyan people at 64 per cent, followed by news at 20 per cent, third are soap operas at 12 per cent, fourth on the list are games and sports at 3 percent and last are cartoons at 1 percent.

More so, the survey also noted that parents have had little or no control on what their children watch on TVs or listen on radios, which makes them vulnerable to bad things.

In a bid to make sure that children are protected from such bad content on TVs and radio, the KFCB CEO Dr Ezekiel Mutua noted that he was doing everything to protect children.

“We regulate content at the creation, broadcast, possession, distribution and exhibition stages. KFCB is the custodian of Kenya’s moral compass at a time when we are continually bombarded by vicious content that reaches vulnerable children,” said Mr Mutua.
