Sitting at the farthest corner north of the county is Subukia View Point, with the most spectacular view of the Great Rift Valley.

The view here is breathtaking. One has a bird's eye-view to the beautiful farms, Subukia town and the famous St Mary's Shrine.

The county government has done nothing to tap the revenue by both local and foreign tourists.

The view point is constructed with rickety pieces of wood that hang precariously above a cliff, courtesy of a few curio sellers.

There is no basic infrastructure such as decent toilets. The site is on the busy Nakuru -Nyahururu highway. Nothing protects tourists from the fast moving traffic.

Tourists have to look over their shoulders when vehicles roar dangerously close. The situation is not helped by the fact that the road is in a poor state.

Curio traders say that they make little business since tourists who dare stop there soon leave once they learn they could be in danger. There is no hotel around there.

Games like rock climbing, hiking and diving could attract more tourists. Somebody should tap this potential.

Evenings find the site deserted. This is occasioned by the rampant insecurity as the place is surrounded by a forest, where highway robbers are said to hide.

Residents hope that somebody will invest on the site to create employment and business opportunities
