There are very many children wishing to represent their clubs at various youth levels but that has not really been embraced by our clubs, which is not encouraging at all.

Clubs located in both rural and urban areas are blessed with a richly available breed of talent that has not been harnessed and needs to be.

If a club has all of the youth levels from the U13, U15, U17, U18 and the reserves, for example, it is very hard to experience problems that come with a thinning squad especially in cases when the available squad members get injured or need to be rested for a bigger game.

Funds have always been a problem but in most cases, the passion drive in this kids is way too high and some of them might not require that much as long as an agreement is in place with the parent or guardian.

Football boots and the love from the club and squad members will go a long way in arousing the inbred enthusiasm.

When the academies are fully established, they can even operate on their own independently but only answerable to their mother club in some ways just as it happens in the English Premier League for example.

The young talents, once fully matured, will help the country in future during selections to represent the nation on the international stage be it in friendly matches or FIFA recognized competitive matches.

Some regions have the youth league in place but it has to be vibrant throughout the whole country. Let these kids travel and play with their age mates from other parts of the country.

They should also train and not just be called in from the streets or wherever they will be during match days. Local clubs have no doubt achieved that Kenyan Core that is so important but they are failing in a bid to breed their own talents.

They now need to infuse a very rich young talent to match or even outnumber the old guard. It is essential for the future of both club and national football.
