National Assembly majority leader Aden Duale has accused National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential candidate of attempting to rise to power through unconstitutional means.
Speaking after casting his vote, Duale reminded the opposition leader that the only to become the commander in chief of the Kenyan armed forces is by taking part in an election.
“For one to be a president of this country, the citizens must vote for you. There is no short cut to this office,” he said, as quoted by Nairobinews.
The Garissa lawmaker also reminded the opposition leader that the transformation of NASA into a resistance movement will take him nowhere.
The legislator said that the new development makes the alliance to belong to the same class as other militia groups including Mungiki and Al Shabaab among others.
“Having changed from a political party to a resistance movement Nasa joined the ranks of Mungiki, Al-Shabaab among others. The constitution does not recognize armed groupings and have thus no place in Kenya,” Mr Duale said.
The opposition leader dropped from the presidential rerun claiming that IEBC had ignored his demands.
