Leaders who had been locked up on charges of hate speech have decided to hold peace meetings across all the 47 counties to preach peace and unite Kenyans.
Led by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and his Kabete counterpart Ferdinand Waititu, on Sunday said the short period they stayed in the cells taught them the need to stay united and stick as a nation.
Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri has also joined in, saying they agreed to hold such talks when they were locked in the cells.
“In the cell, there was no Jubilee or Cord. We faced similar challenges and talked to each other,” said Kuria, who was speaking at Gatundu Stadium on Sunday.
"We felt a similar hunger because there was no food,” added the MP, who is out on bond.
He further said he had agreed to meet Cord leader Raila Odinga and bury their differences
Waititu on his part said they have learnt a lot and will strive to unite all tribes, and not to divide Kenyans anymore.
“Being in the cell was quite tough for all of us. You sit, you stand up but it was still so uncomfortable. If this is what it will take for Kenyans to unite, then, so be it. We have learnt a big lesson that we will not forget,” he said.
