The threats by opposition to boycott elections was misinterpreted according to NASA presidential hopeful Raila Odinga.
The former Prime Minister has promised that there will be no elections if the electoral body tempers with the process that has to be free and fair.
Speaking during a live interview, Odinga faulted the move by IEBC to appeal a ruling that demanded that the results announced at the constituency level be upheld as the official results without any alteration.
“We did not say we will boycott elections. There will be no election because the constitution demands the constituency level results as final results. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is violating the constitution by appealing the constituency results ruling,”
Their threats were countered by warning from several quarters including the security departments. NASA was warned against issuing statements that could lead to violence in the coming elections. The four principals were directed to carry out peaceful campaigns.
Jubilee was also quick to respond. Some politicians allied to the ruling party said an election without NASA was a possibility thus they were not moved by the boycott threats. They dared the opposition to do so.
