Maiyo said on Thursday that despite sensitising students on the dangers of exam cheating, the cases were still evident.

"In last year's Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams, 37 students from five schools participated in exams cheating, which is an increase from 2014's 32 students," he said.

He added that exam cheating is a vice and should be condemned with the strongest terms possible.

"I urge the Ministry of Education and the Kenya National Examination Council (Knec) to work together and ensure exam cheating is a thing of the past," he said.

He called upon teachers to give harsh punishments to students involved in exam cheating to encourage them to work hard in class and achieve genuine results.
