Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua argues that he has managed to fight food shortage through different programs since he took over leadership following the last general elections.

Mutua, who spoke on Jeff Koinange Live Show, said that he deserves another term in office because of his exemplary performance scoreboard while citing food security and infrastructural improvement among other achievements.

“For the first time since independence, Machakos was not in the list of areas to receive relief food," he said as quoted by Star.

The outspoken governor also exuded confidence that he will beat his rivals hands down when that time comes because of his good performance track record.

"On August 8, I will beat my opponents [by a big margin] because I am up to the task. For instance, I built a 33km road in three months,”he added.

Mutua, a former government spokesman, also revealed that he fell out with Wiper Party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka because of their political differences.

He took a swipe at leaders aligned to Wiper, saying that they plotted his downfall.

"I left Wiper party because we would attend meetings and the people would discuss how to make leaders fall, who is the best...to the detriment of Kenyans."
